Skincare

Ever since puberty, I've had very oily and acne-prone skin. Over the past year, I've been working on trying to fix that. In the end, I found that benzoyl peroxide (as harsh as it is) is unfortunately the most effective chemical at fighting my acne; but I have been successful at making my skin less oily and more moisturized and smooth. I've also eliminated sulfates from my routine as much as possible. Here are some of my favorite products out of the dozens I've tried.

Burt's Bees Radiance Day Creme With Royal Jelly

Himalaya Neem Face Pack: The only masks I've tried that don't give me breakouts are turmeric/neem-based.

Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner with Aloe Vera: Nice alcohol-free toner. (Don't put alcohol on your face, people.)

Mogador Certified Organic 100% Pure Argan Oil: Good as occasional moisturizer along with the jojoba oil and tea tree oil if you want.

Desert Essence 100% Pure Jojoba Oil

Dermadoctor Physical Chemistry microdermabrasion/chemical peel: Expensive, but it lasts a while, and really gets your skin smooth.

Passport to Organics Clear Face Turmeric Cream Cleanser: Very gentle, doesn't dry me out.

Nubian Heritage shea butter infused with black soap extract, oats & aloe: I use this as a nighttime moisturizer (shea butter is non-comedogenic!).

Pur Minerals CC cream broad spectrum SPF 40: The only BB/CC/DD cream I've tried that actually helps my makeup go on smoother. I think it takes longer for my face to get oily with this on too.

Jane Iredale mineral makeup: They have some really nice matte foundation and powder, plus sprays to set your makeup.
